Welcome to this blog exploring sustainable rural development!
What's this blog about?

Hi, my name is Maggie, and in this blog I'm exploring initiatives for agroecology and sustainable rural development in Central America and southern Mexico. I recently earned a Master's degree in Development Studies with a special focus on Agrarian, Food, and Environmental Studies. To connect these studies to the day-to-day realities of rural campesino and indigenous communities, I'm learning directly from organizations who are carrying out important work to protect the rights of people and the environment.

I share my experiences and spotlight the people and communities who are promoting agroecological practices, protecting native seeds and land rights, engaging in solidarity, and defending local cultures and livelihoods. They are carrying out important work to promote sustainable practices that allow both people and the planet to thrive. Hence, the name of the blog-- "People y Planeta" 🌱

My writing represents my own opinion, not those of the organizations I am visiting, unless explicitly mentioned. This blog is a mixture of research, reflections, and personal anecdotes. Photos or writing posted on this blog should not be reproduced in any way without permission.
